I drove the car down to my son last night and gave it to him and he drove me back home (70 miles) . I didn't do all the things I wanted to do to it so I gave him some $$$ to finish it up , I had to get it out of here , I live in a condo and am limited to how many cars I can have on the premises . The car drove like a dream on the trip , tight and straight as an arrow . I don't know how they drive and handle after a lot of miles , but this one with 21K on the clock gets an A+ from this geezer .

So now it'* on to the Road Master , which has me very impressed so far . Looks wise the Road Master would not be my choice if I were buying new , the shape and lines to my eye have a rather odd look . That said it'* a well taken care of 93 with 27,000 miles on it , and it really feels and looks like a new car . The RM has the limo feel , where the 91 PA has more of a slightly larger that mid size feel . My son was a very happy camper with his new to him PA .

I am also happy your son was pleased with the PA. They are good cars, and fairly straight forward to work on.
What kinda work does the Road Master need?

To tell you the truth I really don't know at this point , other than I know it still has the original tires on it . This one has been driven right a long . The original owner died nearly a decade ago , no children and the widow didn't drive . An elderly retired neighbor drove it to take her grocery shopping and to the doctor , so it'* been driven and kept up by him . If some one didn't know what year the car was , they would guess it was maybe 2 years old that'* how nice it is .

I will start going through it this week and see what'* what . One thing that really surprised me is both of the cars had the original tires on them , the PA'* tires are 24 years old . Neither visually showed their age , nor did they lose any of their driving characteristics . Both cars drove smooth as silk .

I have almost 190k miles on my '93 Park Avenue, and wouldn't use the same words to describe the ride in the urban environment. I am fairly confident that all running gear (save for rear struts) is factory original however. I have also not been kind with driving habits either.

However, even after saying that, on a nice cool day, at 80mph on the interstate, it'* true colors show, and I could drive for an eternity in it, because it is everything you say it is.

As was said though, the car is very easy to work on as the need arises, but also, the battles are those expected with older vehicles; battery here, tires there, heater core, master cylinder, etc. In fact, much of the work done was where replacement parts have failed.

Aged tires....I would never trust them.

My son has been driving the Park Avenue back and forth to work now for a couple of weeks . He put new Cooper tires on it and says they ride well and he is satisfied with them . The only problem he has had is a leaking injector O ring that he replaced . Before we got it from the dealer they had replaced 2 injectors , and in doing so disturbed the other injector O rings ? He says he is going to replace all the O rings for the simple reason they are old and dried out . So far that is the only problem which is not a REAL problem .

On the Road Master I have done nothing to it other that drive it around town running errands . So far so good , I haven't found a thing on this car that doesn't work like new . Other than a little damage on the body side molding behind the driver'* side rear wheel , the car is pretty much without flaw . So far other than needing to replace the original tires , I haven't found a thing that this car needs . When the weather breaks here I plan on giving it a closer inspection , it appears that the car was well taken care of . I haven't decided on tires and wheels as yet , I want to spend a little more time with it before making a decision . For the time being I am going to keep this one for myself and find my daughter some thing a little smaller . A good reliable 20,000 mile car for $5,000 or less is difficult to find in this market , but I'm looking every day .

Glad he likes the new Cooper tires.
When I did the UIM/LIM job I replaced all the injector o-rings, they do wear out and it is good practice to replace them all at once. (less headaches /leaks to happen later)
I'm glad you are keeping the Roadmaster. If I had found that beauty, it would be staying at home too!
I am sure in a short while you will find tires & rims,then you are ready for the long runs!

Yeah the dealer should have changed all of them when they replaced to 2 injectors , they knew better but they don't give a damn . He only had it for a few days and one started leaking , like I said typical car dealer . With his PA I expected this type of problem because the car sat for a long time between start ups .

The Roadmaster was run at least once a week to take the elderly woman to the grocery store and to the doctor . The elderly man (friend) next door drove her and kept on top of the car for oil changes etc.etc. . Personally I would have never given one of these Roadmasters a second look , but now that I stumbled on this one I'm glad I did . Not only are they really comfortable and the smoooooothest ride , they have an excellent reliability history . I would tell any one that if you find one of these RM low mile wonders at a decent price to grab it , even if it'* for a weekend car .

After testing / driving the car around and reading tire review after tire review , I decided to stick with the stock wheels and Vogue white wall tires .
I would have liked some deep well chrome mag wheels , but the ones I really liked were just more than I wanted to pay . On top of all of that , they wouldn't last long here in the mid west winters . I bought pretty much the most expensive tires which were the Vogue white walls . $758.00 installed .
