I have 89 LeSabre Ltd with the pre-series 1 3800. The car has 158,000 miles on it and is in great shape. We just bought another vehicle so I will be using this one solely to get to work. I would really like to put a supercharger in it, mainly just for the novelty. Plus it never hurts to embarrass a few kids when the "grandpa" car spanks their car from a stoplight. Anyway, I'm looking for advice as to what car would be a good source for what I need, and also whatever I might need that I might not know about. I am just a backyard mechanic looking for a project so no bashing...I would appreciate any input...

That'* a first. I'm not even sure if a 90+ L67 with trans would even work in your platform.
This would be something completely custom on your end. I wouldn't even know where to start myself. Most people would suggest any L67 1997 and newer with its PCM. Or the L32 engine. But the PCM wouldn't be compatible with your 89 platform. You would have to custom make a body harness just to keep the PCM happy.

Thanks Mike. I was concerned that the pcm would be a problem. A custom harness is a bit beyond my skill level. I'm not sure a full transplant would even be worth it. The thought was just to have a novelty sleeper. Guess not....

There is one instance documented on this forum (pictures long gone), keyword will be frankenbonne if memory serves, by randman1 who has long since departed about 10 years ago.
There was also one instance of a turbocharged LN3 in a '90 SSE, by the user Merlin91/97, about that many years ago as well. The estimates were 200-220hp, with the engine internals a primary concern.
Also keep in mind, the modern V6 has been routinely putting down 275+HP, with v8'* cracking 400+HP regularly. To sleeper it up, you will probably want to be running with these guys, which would likely mean a 12 second 1/4 mile car. Depending on how heavy your car is (that era of H Body is LIGHT, especially without power options), you will want to be cracking at least 300HP, which is fairly easy on a modded series 2 supercharged engine, assuming the tranny is up to the task.
Sorry for the big bunch of words, but it'* well beyond the 'shadetree mechanic beer session' level of difficulty. Again, turbo may be feasible, but the engine likely isn't game for anything serious.
