2000 Regal Project
Some know I have been planning many mods for a Regal, buying and storing them up. Finally found the car. Skipping the million pics etc, I got a 2000 Regal and am installing stuff. Greg is forcing me to post this, I call your bluff and raise you some progress pics on a Regal bud.
Sound deadening the car and installing of the amp happened already. Here'* where i'm at.
Fasten your seat belts because this train kicked into highish gear tonight. Ok ok..I'm not as far along as I'd like to be.... darn it ...I'm human afterall.
Finished laying down the sound proofing on the floor. Here'* a shot from almost done
Went into the front passenger door for some proof of concept.
Idea one is that I can have turn signal mirrors.
Idea two I can run the speaker wire into the rubber door boot.
Idea 3 was adding a puddle light to the mirror.
Idea 4 was to add in the pre 2000 door light on the interior.
Complete and total success, the pics don't give it a bit of credit and I'd like to thank Rob again for the place to get LED"*. Everything went well. All soldered in properly and connectored at the right places. The turn signal mirror and puddle light wires are in the factory door connector, as if GM put them there. All the planning is paying off. :Thumbs
My camera skills are below suck
And I got the audio nearly complete.
This grommet allowed the power wire a nice sealed place to pass through. The front right speaker wire is run under the black mat where it crosses under the power wire.
And how/where I ran the RCA'* and front right wire.

That last picture shows a key area in the firewall where I think all W-body guys should run their power wires. You should just post just that picture and a small point on running power wires & such through there.
And nice job with the matting! What brand is that?

I see you decided not to go with the liquid sound deadening?
Also if I can make a suggestion, before you put everything back in and hide the wires, check and make sure your not getting any interference or alternator whine. It'* a lot easier to fix with the interior still out!

Mmmm more thoughts. Might not be able to do turn signals and autodimming. I bet the mirror is thicker or has more to it. Screw autodimming..lol.
Broke into the drivers door last night and got that mirror ready and prewired. A couple connections are left at the mirror, but all the wires being added to factory connectors is all set. Door and puddle lights are in and 100%.
Started peeling the tint. If anyone here ever puts Walmart tint on their car... lemme know. I'll drive out and kick then in the nuts.... fargin peeling cheap tint. A good heat gun is something everyone should own. It'* helpful.
Washed the carpet I'm going to use for the time being. I had started cleaning it wtih the steam cleaner and that was moving too slow. Pulled the pressure washer out. Came out well with the pressure washer.
Pulled the front of the dash off and cut the back area where the radio needed a little more clearance. Hooked up the RCA'*, did a test fit. So far so good.
Overall moving slower than I wish because there'* just not enough hours in each day.
Sound deadener all came from Second Skin Audio. The matting is called DAmplifer. I do have the liquid sound deadner, but that'* for the doors. In reading further the best product for floors is the matting.
Unfortunately because of time constraints, the audio will probably not be hooked up before the carpet and seats go back in. No biggie, it'* a 30 minute removal of the interior.
With all the plans for the car... style will hopefully not be visible to the police.

The last couple days of pics.
Like mentioned, the wires were added into the factory connectors :Thumbs
Second Skin Audio'* Sludge product is quite the unique goop. Thickened it up to the point that I applied it with my hand and had to ensure it didn't dry on my skin. Did all 4 doors and the trunk lid.
Door lights in a 2000 anyone?
Rotors and pads arrived the other day.
Put the seat back in for the tint guy in case he was taking the car somewhere to tint it.
Darn I'm tired, g'nite
