2000 Buick century ac compressor/tensioner failing?
yesterday while driving i noticed for the first time that while i accelerate my car makes a whistling/whinning noise. i took it to a shop and a guy took a look at it and listened to it and said my ac compressor is causing the noise. a guy at a auto parts store said its my tensioner and sold me some belt oil stuff that really didnt make a difference.
anyone else have this issue? howd you fix it?

If it was the tensioner, why would belt lube help? Is the belt cracked?
First thing to do is start the car and while under the hood, rev the engine a bit.....is the noise there?
Now turn the A/C on, and rev the engine....is the noise there or gone?
A belt noise would be there whether A/C is on or off.....spraying silicone on the belt, would reduce/change/eliminate the noise if it was the belt....
If it was the tension bearing, noise would be there all the time.....
Sometimes it'* the compressor clutch.....it makes a noise with the A/C off, and the noise goes away when the A/C is on.....this is evidenced by metal shavings around the edge of the clutch....
Is the A/C cooling ok?
