1990 buick century tcc solenoid replaement
I have a 1990 buick century with 3speed auto trans. Number on trans is
J227B OBYC. It needs a new tcc solenoid. I have pulled the electrical plug to get by, but I want to replace sol., so it locks up properly and not stick as it is doing now. I have looked at different procedures on line. Some say it is an easy job working through the wheel well. Others say it is a major project using special tools to support engine and lower trans to clear the cover over the valve body. This car has the 3.3 L engine and it looks like the cover will clear. Which is it? I would think that all the frames would be the same on the same model car. This trans has the 11 bolt side cover without the left drive axle through it. It appears the original solenoid uses one bolt to hold it in place. The picture of the replacement at autozone(and others) has a bracket with a hole on either side of the solenoid. Is this an improved unit over original oem? Any info is appreciated. Ken
