Default Squeeky / Dirty Brakes

I just purchased a new 05 GXP with 5K on it. I am enjoying this thing alot, never thought I'd say that about a 4 door. I have been fond of the Caddy STS since the mid 90'* until they changed'em up with the new front ends, just can't get use to it nor can I afford a new one.

I fell in love with the GXP when I first saw one. Way more sporty looking than the Caddy and it has Northstar power.

My first issue I'd like to take care of is the darn brakes squeeling when I just start to put pressure on them. They do it every time and dealer says can't do a thing about it. ? WTF!!
Secondly they blacken up my wheels VERY fast.

Dealer tells me to just get on'em real hard several times to break them in and they should get better. Has anyone else been having this problem and has anyone changed the pads to something else to control dusting?

Thanks for any help...

Purchase new brake pads and buy the ceramics, won't squeek and no dust.

Welcome to BC and good luck with your new GXP. Ceramic pads are definatly the answer to the brake dust problems. Personally I would just wait till the OEM wear out and then replace the pads with ceramic.

Ditto on the greetings as I just bought my '05 GXP new about 6 weeks ago and joined up here. I haven't had the squealing - but as many have mentioned, the brake dust on the wheels is the worst I have ever seen. Good luck with your GXP!

I installed ceramic pads on mine. I love them. Almost no dust, and they stop better.

Default ceramic

Yes...go ceramic...the only way to go on this car as far as I can tell after three different styles tried...even the bendix best pads sucked eggs.
