The replacement sensor didn't fix the code.
In the meanwhile, I found a deal on a 2009 CTS and the GXP is gone.
Good news: problem is gone.
Bad news: didn't find the solution.
I did take it for a final drive; 400 miles. Even with the CEL, the highway mileage was a solid 24mpg. half the trip was with the a/c on.
It will be missed. It was still a great looking car.
