No Start/Rough Start
Hi,
I was reading through the threads and I too have an intermittent problem starting my GXP. Sometimes it cranks right up and sometimes...nothing. I have discovered that if I hold the key in the start position, sometimes for several minutes, the car will eventually start. I was thinking that it was a bad starter or fob transmitter problem but now after reading the tech post from Tom Sawyer, I am guessing that it'* the PCM. Initially after the no start problem, it would crank right up normally, but lately it'* gotten worse. Now when the no start intermittent problem happens, the car is hard to start. It will either crank over several times before starting or just barely fire and catch but not start. Reminds me of an old carb engine on a cold day. The car also has begun stumbling badly between all shifts. Also...once in a while, the engine will constantly cycle up and down about 500 rpms.

Had the intermittent start problem rarely, but ran fine once it started. Also had the RPM "cycling" once and one other time the engine rpm got higher and higher warming up in the winter. I noticed it inside and did a couple things and ended up running out to the car and turning it off as it had goten up to 3000rpm. It stay on high idle for 2 more successive starts, then back to normal. Very quirky for sure, Makes me wonder if it says "Toyota" on the bottom of the PCM.
