GXP or XLR
I saw my first XLR at the LA auto show in Jan of 03 and fell in love. I also saw the GXP at the show in Jan of 04 and was disappointed in the HP output compaired to the XLR. Granted they are two intirely different vehicles but you have to admit GM is screwing this whole thing up by only making the GXP a 275HP auto. The XLR is 320 and you really feel it. My dealer has had a couple of these in and I got to test drive it, and let me tell you it is awsome. I'll probably never get rid of my SSEi, I just love it. But you got to admit that 275hp is just teasing us. Look what they got coming with the GTO 350HP and 365lb of torque. Believe me the GXP is nice but if you go Pontiac the GTO'* gonna be better for the price! Or if you really want style the XLR!!!!

Remember that GM is a company. In order to sell more expensive cars, I.E. Caddy'*. You have offer something that other cars do not have. In other words, if you want more HP, buy an XLR. Or a GTO. The bonneville line always was, and always meant to be a large luxury family sedan. The fact that it is sporty, is besides the point.

Bottom of the line?
No
I experienced this car at the Auto Show, its definitely not an entry level Caddy.
Sol is bang on, you cant compare a 2 door convertible to the GXP...
Maybe the SLS/STS - Bonneville GXP is a bit more fair of a comparo

acutally they compared it to a mercedes in its class, and 1 other car, for performance it was at the top of its class. ill try to find that article...
XLR'* are like 75k i cant wait for the XLR-V tests report it in the neighborhood of 590hp with a supercharged northstar. of the course production version will be around 450-500, still gonna rock!

They compared the XLR to the Mercedes SL500, and the Lexus SC and it rated right in the middle. But remember the SL has been around I think now for 40 or 50 years now. However I was not comparing the GXP to the XLR just the engine'*. I just find it a very upsetting that they under powered the Norstar in the GXP! At least give it that same as the STS (305hp). I'm not sure what the new 04/05 STS will be though.
