Please take care not to misquote me, or infer that I meant something I did not say. Here'* what I said (emphasis added)...

...and I stand by that, from everything I've read about others' experiences. Unfortunately there is no magic formula which results in huge power gains for little to no money/work. An airbox gut will help increase incoming airflow. So will an aftermarket intake (although be wary of worthless cone filters that might be attached). BUT increasing the incoming airflow won't do much for HP if the air hits a brick wall (figuratively speaking) when the exhaust is trying to leave the engine. Hence the advantage of upgraded exhaust for maximum results.

So, what IS an airbox gut, then, is what I'm trying to figure out :? And don't you mean a cone filter in that setup for sale on eBay when you say "you can add a K&N if you're into those" ? The classic Aurora has a pretty decent air intake system, however it does come with an intake resonator, and the top potion of the air box houses this yellowish plastic innards that can be removed rather easily. Once the innards are out, the top of the box is essentially hollow, allowing for increased air volume due the increase in total "airbox" area.

Once you get yours there will be plenty to see, also, read our forums, there are a lot of ppl that have had mixed bag experiences with the mods.

Rule of thumb.

Exhaust mods without intake = possible
Intake mods without exhaust = useless
Intake/exhaust mods = best bang for the buck.

But power is NOT cheap, dont kid yourself

Airbox gut = open the stock airbox, and tear out all the molded plastic inner pieces. It'* supposed to make it louder and freer with airflow. You can keep the stock paper air filter, or replace it with a drop-in K&N (or the like) performance filter for added airflow in the stock airbox.

Aftermarket intake = a whole different setup, replaces the stock airbox parts (obviously). Most of those kits include a cone filter (looks like a K&N, but isn't), but often I think people have found that those no-name filters are only *made* to look fancy and don't perform as such. Plus they can effectively suck hot air into the engine (bad) if they are not shielded properly.

Yes, it'* reversible as long as you don't break up the innards when removing them from the airbox. An ACNA member did a successful un-gut of his airbox, which I believe is mentioned in one of the ACNA thread links I posted above.
