Wire Harness - '93 SE AM/FM/Cassette
Hi Gang,
Can anyone tell me what the function is for a certain wire harness to the back of my radio?
I know it isn't one of the harnesses for the speakers - I've ID'ed those. The large harness that includes power and light dimming, too. This harness ia 7-pin, but only has 2 wires going into it, one of which is green.
I am trying to install a '95 AM/FM/CD (Pontiac/Delco). All the connectors work (with a little modification to one) except for the one I can't ID. The corresponding port on this newer stereo only has 6 pins. My thought is to maybe trim one of the pins off the OEM harness making it a 6 pin. Right now, it is not connected, and everything works properly, with the exception of the CD player (won't pull a CD in; and won't spin 'em if I "help" it in). It does "see" when a CD is in. Periodically gives an "E23" code. I am wondering if this harness being disconnected is causing the Cd problems.
Thanks for your help!

that section of the big harness in my 96 is only 6 pins, one is the signal wire for steering wheel controls, and the other is a data line to the computer or something like that.....i think in earlier years there was another wire in that section of the harness, which was the turn on for the factory amp....my amp doesn't have a turn on wire in the harness, i believe it turns on from the power antenna turn on
