should i cut a hole?
From what I have read, it is a good idea to open the hole between the trunk and the back seat. Well my 90 doesnt have a hole. Would this cause problems with the bass? Would I be better off cutting out a hole?

Yeh you can cut holes in the rear deck and put some black or what ever color mesh in it to make it look stock. But yeah it will definatly help with bass flow. Holes as big as a scotch glass would be optimal.

I mean like a hole right behind the arm rest of the back seat. I really don't want to cut a hole but would I lose a lot of bass if I didnt?

there isnt a trunk access in the 87-91?? hmmm...
i dont think you would notice that much difference with or without a hole there. i always have mine closed even when im jamming out

You will find a big differance if there was a decent size acess hole from the cab to the trunk/ You should deffinatly do this .. bass will 2x. :?

Well.. in theory it would play louder although the low notes won't be affected but the higher bass frequency would. What your doing in a sense is turning your trunk box into a ported box. Just ensure you have the trunk well insulated or you will be hearing a lot of rattles.. ( that and whats in your trunk is secure ).

I took off the top part of the back seat. Marked out the rear and made sure I wouldnt cut through any wires. Took a saw to it and cut it out. Didnt bolt down the top part again just set it back in loose. So that way if nobody is sitting in the back I just lay it down and have direct access to the trunk. If somebody is coming with just pop itback into place. to make it look nicer try to find some matching carpet and put it on the bare metal.

I would advise against cutting a hole.... just yet.
First, try the system w/o a hole and see how you like it.
Second, try removing the 6x9s or tweeters (in the rear) instead of cutting a hole, that should make a real improvement.
Third.... I guess cut a hole.... :P
I had two 10in subs in the back of my 91 and they sounded great (no holes).
I currently have three 10in subs in my 91, and they are LOUD. (need to recoat the trunk again w/ dynomat)... hehe
