how do you run your ipod/aux in?
hey all. after driving my dads car when i was up in indiana last weekend i miss my steering wheel controls lol. the whole reason i got the stereo i have is because of the hd radio stations (your normal stations with they're own sub stations, eg: 97.9-2) and the id3 itunes tagging (the ability to see what your are listening to and tag it to your ipod for later purchase). but in memphis there is none of that. the stations that do have it just play ads that run forever like a ticker tape. so now that i dont live in chicago its useless apart from the usb port and auxiliary 3.5mm jack in. all i really want is the 3.5mm jack or something similar. ive got a cigarette lighter ipod charger so i can cope with the no usb port problem. but i cant live without the 3.5mm in. mainly because the entire way through Illinois on the trip up and down, i get 3g coverage. meaning we can use my phones window mount to watch netflix and my phones speaker isnt loud enough to cover the road noise lol.
ive seen several random tutorials on instructables on how to do this by splicing 800 wires, but i was wondering if anyone has done anything similar to what i want to do with the stock stereo on here. i also want to try to steer clear of the tape with the wire hanging out. because with a tape you get no highs or lows and you sound like your listening through earmuffs lol.
any ideas are greatly appreciated.
btw, once im done with this feel free to shoot me an offer on the stereo.
this is my exact stereo on amazon.

i dont want this stereo anymore, because it doesn't let me take advantage of anything on my steering wheel, temp, seek, scan, or volume. and the adapter is about $100 to make them work with the aftermarket stereo. so apart from the 3.5mm jack, i dont see any disadvantage to installing the original stereo, having those controls for free and making a few bucks on the pioneer.

i tried the remote, but the only place it gets a signal is directly infront of the stereo. so its just as distracting as looking at the dash.
Now just to connect the wires and reassemble when I wake up. I think it looks pretty clean. What do yall think?

Haha, horrible remote is horrible then. I thought Pioneer was better than that? I'm pretty sure I've used mine at around 50 feet away before, just because. Not what this is about though.
That'* a pretty clean looking install, hope it works.

i dont know if you have ever taken a video hame controller apart but imagine that times ten, just for the faceplate lol. all those buttons arent secured, and behind them is this black paper crap and these white retainer peices that slide around as much as the buttons lol. i say atleast 50 pieces to remember where they go in that faceplate. so i put it back together just so i could take it apart again today so i wouldnt forget where everything goes lol. and as for the remote issue, it works forever away, as long as you are back about a foot. i tried every position on the wheel but the closest place i could make it work was on the center console... i did just think of something thats gonna suck. the stock stereo wont play mp3 cd'*. (just music files, letting you put about 300 songs on a normal 80 min cd) guess ill have to use my ipod for its intended purpose lol.
