Good 4X6'* for Clarity & Bass??
I am looking to get some 4X6'* for my STE. The dash has the spots for the speakers, but when I took the dash pad off, I found that there were no speakers there. Its not a big deal because it still has 6.5'* in the front doors and tweeters in all 4 doors and 6X9'* in the rear, but it is lacking up front since all the sound is coming from the sides or rear. So what I'm looking for is some nice clear sounding 4X6'* that will hit pretty hard as well, but I don't want to spend a lot either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn

you are not gonna get much bass from a 4x6 but they do put out nice mids and highs so i do not think these will fill your missing bass but the mids would fill nicely. i do not know what a ton of the 4x6'* out there sound like but my friend had some infinity ones in his explorer and they sound really nice and handle bass well for their size but they were around 90 so i dont know if that is in your price range or not. the 4x6s i have sitting in the back of mine are just for mid and treble and they do not handle bass well at all but they dont really need to since i got the 10'* sitting right next to them and of coarse the pair of 12'* in the trunk so good luck finding a pair.

Try www.discountjungle.net, they have the best prices IMO and Im definitely going to get some Infinity Kappa 4x6s for $79 from there. They look really good and will most likely hit pretty hard as they use the plate design. I heard some Boston Acoustic 4x6'* in the plate design and I really liked how much bass they put out. That was 4 years ago so I can imagine that they would be much improved.

If you want bass from Infinity'*, go with the Kappa'*. I had reference Series 5.25" components and there was no bass from them. Might have helped if they had been amped, but a friend has the Kappa'* in his car and they actually do some pumping.
Infinity is spendy, but you get what you pay for.
As for the Sony'*, they are known to have decent bass for the $$, but I believe Pioneer is going to be slightly cleaner sounding IMO.
If you are looking to spend under $75 I'd suggest either finding some Infinity 4x6" plate speakers on ebay, or get some Pioneer or Sony'* from your local Wal-Mart (I know I'm gonna hear smack for this).
