First step in audio upgrade

Tweeters aren't meant to be 6 inches from your ears, then the soundstage dosen't have time to develop. Otherwise you've got one tweetwer 6 inches from your ear, and one 4 feet from the other. The kick panels/door mounts are closer to putting the driver equadistant (as said before) from each speaker.

I dont get it?
Mainly the part where you said the stuff about all the inche and having one 4 feet away? Do you mean exactly what i said earlier? How its bad? Or do you mean that it is good... :? Im lost

Also, since I'm new to some of this audio stuff, I'll probably buy some 3 way 5 1/4 speakers for the front soon, which will have tweeters in them obviously. So should I get some other separate tweeters as well, and mount them in the A-pillar? Also, I'm assuming you have to take the door panel off to get the speakers in, but I think I remember someone saying you don't have to. That would be great since it'* a PITA to take them off, but is it true?

Ok..since I'm new to some of this stuff, I'm guessing these 'crossovers' are so the sound goes to the correct speakers, or something?
For just separate tweeters, what would you recommend? Thanks for bearing with my naive questions

I'd say save up from components. Don't get 2 or 3 way in the doors. It'll be worth it in the long run, and you'll have less tweeters, that sound different and will be mingling with eachothers soundwaves. Here'* a diagram on how the tweeters would be in the A Pillars.. T= Tweeter, H=head
T-----H----------------------H-------T
And in the doors...
-----------H-------------H-------------
---------------------------------------
T------------------------------------T
You want to look at the distance of each tweeter to your head, in percentages. In the first one, the right tweeter is about 5x as far as the left one. In the second diagram (in the door panels) the right tweeter is only about 2x as far as the other one. Since All but one car in the world has two seats in the front, you'll never have the best positioning for one listening spot.
The sound also has time to develop, and blend with the opposite channel, and therefore putting a nice soundstage infront of you. "High end" systems in cars, with tweeters in the A pillar, are designed to sound good in that config. They have special crossovers, and equalizing built into them, so they sound good that way. My mom'* camry has this, and it'* nice, but I do not believe that aftermarket systems are designed to be setup like this. Both the woofer and tweeter will play the same note at the same time, if wired properly off the same crossover, if the woofer is 2 feet further away from your ear then the tweeter, it'll sound slightly delayed.

So I should just go with basic one ways in the doors (just better quality than stock)?
Or should I just let someone else install them?
