I agree your way is cleaner and uses less wire but definately takes more time and is taking more of a risk than using a pre-existing grommet.

edit: damn that is good, i may have to rewire once it gets nicer out. Only concern is that i need a 10 gauge lead to my headunit so i would have to have a distribution block behind the glove box or something like that, seems sketchy.
thanks, I would say that you could just use the distro block in the glove box area. there is plenty of room if you dont have the Airbag

I'd rewire those front doors if I were doing new speakers. I had to do my drivers side because it had a break somewhere, and I couldn't find it.

I'm sure you could get a passive crossover for components in the door somewhere. Good luck with the install!

I have the airbag, I'll just get the distribution block open up the glove area and figure it out from there.

6 trunk lockout switch purpose?
1. 5.25 component
2. plenty of room for a small crossover in the doors of my 2000 (appx6"x4"x3")
3. corner of window where the mirror is
5. if you have a 2000+ there is no passthrough from doors to kick panels.. its all harnessed and gay. i drilled holes, used grommets and some split loom tubing to run them separate from the harnbess
6. locks out the remote control and or button in glove box to prevent theft
