Which Alarm/Remote Start To Get?
I am looking into getting a new alarm for my car. Since I'm going to be moving to the A-T-L in a month, I wanted something on my car to give me a little piece of mind. Yeah, I know these things are foolproof, but I figured if it helps out the insurance a bit and makes me feel a little more secure about my ride, then it is probably worth it.
I went to a local auto accessories dealer here in CO and looked over the different products. Basically, I know that I want a DEI product, but I am not sure which one to get. Also, I am unsure about getting remote start put in or not. One of my concerns about the remote start is how easy it will be for me to start the car. So, here are the options I am considering:
Alarms w/ Remote Starts
Viper 791X - Seems like an awesome system to get put in. My one concern, though, is even if the range is 1/4 mile, will I be able to start my car from inside my apartment even if the car is not in a "straight line" from me? (i.e., in a parking deck or 3 floors below me) Yeah sure, when getting out of a store or mall or club, it would be nice to have the AC on while I'm walking to the vehicle. How strong is the signal on this piece? Quoted cost for unit + install - $599
Viper 771X - This system is just a step down from the 791X, with remote start only in line of sight of the vehicle. Quoted cost of unit + install - $499
Alarms Only
Viper 5000 - I think this is the newer version of the 690X. 2 Aux. Outputs and LCD screen. Quoted cost for unit + install - $418
Viper 3000 - I think this is the nerwer version of the 671X. LED. Quoted cost for unit + install - $367.
So, what would you guys go with? I mean, I don't mind going for the 791X, but is it worth the extra $100 for the remote start range and the LCD screen? That'* my dilemma.

Well I went in and I scheduled an appointment to install the 791XV. Thanks for the recommendation guys!
One thing - the auto technician mentioned that I would have to have my car unarmed when starting the remote start. That'* fine, but with the remote start, will the doors automatically be locked? I don't want my car unlocked while it starts up. I assume it would be locked (I think this should be standard), but I didn't know if this was something I had to specifically say to the technician.
