Not yet, next Friday I am going to try and get in for an oil change and I will see if I can get them to program the remotes then.

I went to a locksmith shop (Serv-u Hardware) yesterday and they cut and programmed a new key for my 2004 Bonne in about 5 minutes. It cost me $31 including tax. They have the blanks and a machine on the counter that programs the keys. Works great

That'* a good price, about the same price I paid with shipping from ebay.

I am curious though, did anyone have to go to your car with the new key?

umm yeah... i know i had to goto my car to program it........ i dont know if i would trust a 'hardware store' to program my key....what stops them from copying that code and than making another key and programming that than stealing your car?!?!? Im weird and think of things like that!! if i dont need someone else to do something, i dont have them do it.

When the guy was done cutting the key, I asked him if he could help me program it. He said that it had already been done by the machine on the counter. I think it was possible because he used the key I gave him to program it? Either way it woked first time, every time. I had thought that he would have to go out to the car because thats what the dealer had to do with my daughters Mustang new key.

Is the only thing that you need the dealership to change whether it displays your name or not???

If that is so then I'm not to worried about it. Mine doesn't have the seat or side mirror position memory anyway. All I noticed that is different with each set of keys is the radio stations.

The key programming takes place in the car, see one of my earlier posts in this thread.

I have no idea what the "box" on the locksmith'* counter is supposed to do, unless the key you bought is not a PK3 and he had to put a chip in it.

The new key is not a pk3, it is an ILCO. I would guess that they could duplicate almost any ignition key the same way.
