Default Well it passed SMOG

Even with a bad MAF sensor Cindys car(164,000 miles) passed SMOG with flying colors.
HC (ppm) (measured) max allowable, CO(%)(measured) max allowable,) NO (PPM)(measured) max allowable
15mph......... (27) .............. 50....................................(0.05)...... .....0.48......................................... ...(42)................414
25mph......... (13)............... 34...................................(0.02)....... .....0.45......................................... ...(22)................701

Well we don't have to do this again for two years, now i have to go put her monster intake back on. Have to take it off to pass the VISUAL INSPECTION. If we put headers on they too would have to come off to pass the (POS) VISUAL INSPECTION.

heh, move to Ohio, no required emissions test

And California must have CRAZY tests. Good job passing!

put some cardboard over the headers and say that you were trying to keep the heat from your STOCK MANIFOLDS out of the engine bay

I have no ideas what any of those numbers mean since we dont have emission testing in MN, but congrats!

Technically headers, Tuned PCMs, and most other mods are illegal in all 50 states

However its only enforced in california.

I'm due right now, they only test by plugging into your OBD2 port in Illinois but i have an intermittent P0420 code so i'm going to stop for lunch somewhere near the emissions place so the car can cool down since it normally throws the code only when warm.

Congrats though. I'd hate to live in CA due to their strict emission laws. Then again i've seen pictures of LA'* smog, so i understand where they are coming from.

About 2 months before we bought the Bonneville i was looking at a '65 Chevy wagon, frame off restoration with a 502 and 4T80, 4 wheel disc brakes, a/c, 8 speaker stereo with a 12" subwoofer. It was a very nice car and i would not have had to worry about the SMOG laws, i could have put an 8-71 blower on it and they could not have touch me. But this car was for my wife and she has a HEAVY right foot, the Bonneville is fast enough. Oh, they wanted $30,000 for the Chevy, which was an ok price for all the work that was done to that car, they finely took $25,000 for it.

Yes it is, if you get a ticket to go to a Smog referee and they tear apart your car and if they find anything that is not stock or if its an aftermarket part that does not have an eo#, you don't pass Smog. It does not matter if your car is clean(under the max allowed). When i was at the Smog shop the car before mine failed his Smog test because the technician found that the intake was not the intake for that car(the car was a '94 Honda and the intake was for an '97 Honda).
