Vibration Nightmare!!!
Well......I thought that my issue with my frontend vibration was repaired, but it is NOT. Sorry to share the bad news, but I need further mechanical assistance.
Went to the local Tire Dealer today and they have been wonderful with attempting to solve the problem, they went as far today to replace the existing Goodyear tires that I had on the car for close to a year with new Michelin tires. They roadforce balanced the Michelin tires and the technician stated that the tires balanced wonderfully, better than most and that the issue should be resolved. Well....I drove the car home on the expressway today, reached 65 to 70 MPH and the vibration in the steering wheel returned along with a vibration in the cabin. I firmly believe at this time that it is NOT the tires or rims on my vehicle and it has to be something else at this point......
They gave me an estimate today for the replacement of the front struts @ $1100. I asked if he thought that they needed to be replaced and the technician said no, but they gave me the estimate anyway....Very odd I thought. Things that have been done to this point:
1. New Michelin tires with road balance
2. New front and firewall rear motor mounts.
3. New rotors and pads all the way around car.
4. New outer tie rods
5. New rim purchased because I thought that was the issue....NOT!!!
I am starting to give up hope at this time and am seriously thinking about trading the car in at only 63k miles. I really like the car, but it keeps slowly sucking more money and I cannot get the issue resolved. When I spoke to the technician, he stated that the bearing and cv axles looked fine and that he felt that was not the issue. He stated if one of these was bad that it would happen consistently at all speeds and this is definitely not occurring.
If anyone is interested in buying my bonnie.....let me know because I think I am going to have to part with her unless anyone here can offer me any other items to look at our review. Not sure where else to go with troubleshooting and repair.....

With a rotating vibration like that, they are hard to isolate and repair. Unfortunately the path you have taken to solve it, is no different than most others before you. Front hubs and ball joints are about the only thing that comes to mind now with all that you have previously done.
I had a front end vibration that was only there at freeway speeds. I ended up doing all four brakes, new rotors and replaced both front hubs with Timkens. No more problems!

If the estimate for front struts was $1100, you may be going to the wrong place. I know its hard to throw parts and money at it, but if you're handy, axles are cheap to DIY. I'm not betting on a CV joint being bad, but its cheap to replace both axles and eliminate the joints from the list of culprits. I'll do your front struts, both axles, both hubs, and throw in ball joints for 1100!

This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask...When you had the brakes done, were the caliper bushings and sliders replaced/lubed properly. I ask b/c I had the same problem with vibration and started replacing parts untill I found out that the caliper bushings were rusted and seized.
Also, one thing to try is to spin the wheel with the car lifted and mount a dial indicator on it to measure for any variation.

if it was an unbalanced torque converter you would feel a vibration at all speeds wouldn't you? im just trying to think of things that could even possibly cause a problem like this

Did you notice any abnormal tire wear in the tires you took off ? If there was none you could most likely count out the tie rod ends. it could be a wheel bearing that isn't exectally right. Look for signs of oil leaking out from the struts before replacing them and they are not that big a deal to do yourself.

I just solved this exact problem. It was the left half-shaft. The boot was leaking grease and the mechinism had destroyed its self. Have a close look at your half-shafts. See my post on wheel balancing for how I found it.
