Valve Cover Gasket Repalcement
Would the torque for the bolts on an 03' would be the same as a 99'? I saw 84 inch pounds for 99' valve covers but didn't find anything specific to 00'+. Also, do I need to use a sealant for the front valve cover gasket, in the corners and such, or would it be fine without it? If I can find one locally, I want to get a gasket and put that on today before I have a fire. Any other tips for me?

Went and got all the supplies to replace the valve cover gasket. Got it all taken apart, gasket looks fine, valve cover is broken, the plastic lip that sticks down and runs around the sides then stops at the front is broken off on the left side. It is also completely covered in yellow gunk. lots and lots of yellow gunk. If the front is covered in yellow gunk, would it be safe to assume the back is just as bad?
I'm going to try and find a valve cover locally that I can go pick up... I need my car.

I think I called every dealer in Chicago, no go. So I'll have to give that a try, I have some JB weld around here somewhere. Will I be able to reuse the new valve cover gasket and grommets, or am I going to have to order another set with the valve cover?

Here'* the damage
I RTV'd the crap out of the areas that were damaged, and it help up most of the way back to Dixon. I had a nice pool of oil sitting on top of the valve cover when I parked it. I'll get that replaced next weekend.

Did the LIM gaskets look really bad when you guys took them off??? That looks like its been building up for a while. Just imagine what the rest of the motor could look like in the inside. . . .
