Trip to the Pontiac Dealers
Well it finally happened. My drivers side back window won't work... :( and when i start up the car i hear a lot of rattling under the car. At first i thought it was a clamp that came loose cause as soon as it heats up or high RPM'* the rattle stops. So the hubby and i thought what the hell we'll take it to Wallace'* in Milton as they've always treated as great. Well we just heard from the mechanic turns out the regulator in the back window is buggered 750.00 for part only.. and ready for this? the catalytic converter is making all the noise. It'* inners are just rattling and GM won't cover a rattley converter. But they said if it doesn't pass the emmisions test GM will warrenty it because the car only has 123,000 kms. The price for a new CC............$1450.00 part only not installed.....OMG!.... So we thought lets see what Canadian Tire wants......."sorry we don't show any exhaust parts for that car". We decided to get the emmisions done to see if it would fail if not it will have to wait for a bit. The rear window? Well the hubby is gonna attempt a fix like some of you guys did on here so if anyone can give some advise on how this is done that would be greatly appreciated.
I'll chime back later and let you know if it fails the emmisions..

Deb, the catalytic converter will cost you under $100 from www.justmagnaflow.com, and should be no more than $100 to install in
Window regulator fix is in Techinfo.
Save yourself $1000.

Well just got back from the dealers and the bonnie passed her emmisions test with flying colors.. Which means no new CC from GM. Think i'm gonna go with Wills suggestion.
Dealership also gave me the name of a guy in Mississauga who sells refurbished regulators for the windows. The service guy loved my car said it was in "emaculent shape" (sp?). That made my day...

If you can't fix the existing one, Ebay has the regulators too... http://search.ebay.com/search/search...ndow+regulator

I'd suggest that you at least give the window regulator repair a try. I have yet to hear from someone who tried it who didn't fix it. Even if you happen to be the first, you aren't out anything but a little time. You may just be able to save yourself $180 plus *&H.

Thanks Tracey and Archon
The hubby does want to give it a try and fix it himself, but just incase i've bookmarked the ebay link. I knew i'd seen them on ebay for $200 US which is a heck of alot better than $750 Cdn.
Thanks again.
