Well the drive to work didn't go well at all. Keep in mind the IAT reading is 66*. I'm seeing all this chit on a cool day, not a hot nasty summer day.

I don't think I saw false knock besides the one time I saw 1.0* pop up while holding 68mph w/ cruise control. This morning....I saw 1.1 degree pop up under the same condition. This is what I MAY consider false knock, but I really don't know yet. However, I EASED into the throttle from 70 to 80+mph and saw 3.x degrees of KR. I did this a couple times. I'm barely even giving it power and I'm seeing 3*. I went WOT once this morning from about 70 to 100 and the gauge showed between 3 and 5* KR max throughout acceleration.

This sucks. :?

I THOUGHT I found the issue last night with misfires, but I watched misfires this morning and NONE showed up. But the gauge showed a 2 on CYL 4 & 6 last night. :? I have brand new plugs. Maybe I need to test coils too...along w/ fuel pressure. I watched the fuel trims this morning too, but I need to research so I understand what those numbers mean. I also need to check the O2 readings.

My gas mileage is great on the highway (29-30 last trip) so my O2 is probably fine. I may grab a new one eventually.

Bill, I can swing up this weekend.

I took it easy on the way home. However, numerous times holding 65-70mph, I'm seeing upwards of 2.5* KR. Easing extremely gentle into the throttle from 70 to 80 I see 3* again.

I watched the misfires screen again and I saw the #1 CYL misfire twice, and the number 2 CYL once. So between yesterday and today I've seen:

2 misfires on #1
1 on #2,
2 on #4,
2 on # 6.

That leaves 3 and 5 fine, but every coil is showing misfires.

I DO NOT see any misfires WHEN I have KR though, but does this matter? The car also drives perfectly normal (besides the KR). I thought I'd be able to feel a misfire, but I guess I've been proven wrong.

Right now it'* obvious my ignition is my first thing to check. Everyone agree or have anything to add?

My plugs and wires cannot be the problem/cause of misfires, so this could be a fuel issue, O2 sensor (not likely IMO), EGR valve, vacuum leak, compression problem (I hope not)....anything else I should check?

Well I just went for another drive.

MORE MISFIRES! The car doesn't noticeably misfire, but I keep getting them, now on every singe cylinder except #5 that I know of. And these are misfires shortly after startup and just cruising at 35mph around town.

Pat,

I looked at some other parameters before I saw your post.

My IAC showed 11249 just a while ago at idle...much different # that what my old Actron scantool showed...MUST be in a different scale.

Timing at one point at WOT today, or close to it, was 9* (crap) with about 6* KR. I know with no KR I should be around 15 (add the 6* KR to the 9 advance and that would be my 15)

I'll have to look at fuel trims tomorrow. I'm afraid to go WOT anymore though, even to check parameters.

I know where I should be at in regards to those parameters, so I'll check them tomorrow morning.

Results after drive to work. Despite the KR I see, this car feels insanely fast.

IAC when warmed up @ idle: between 7890. and 8254. (stayed at 7890. most of the time)

LTFT at WOT: 6.2

O2 at WOT: highest of 885 (should be around 915-925 correct?)

Timing advance: max of 10.5-11

By the LTFT I can see that is lean, but how bad is 6.2?

The most KR I saw today – and I punched it a lot for the sake of learning – was between 2 and 4* (less than 4).

Another thing I noticed is that every time I punch it I see less KR, which I assume is the PCM compensating/adjusting to the driving conditions. :?: I did not see 5 or 6 degrees like I did a couple days ago. It pulled extremely strong on the highway, if I didn't have the Aeroforce I wouldn't think anything was wrong.

On my home stretch to work, I did a 0-70mph run, no holding back, and I saw LESS THAN 1* KR the whole time, but it mostly was dead on 0.0. However, my timing advance never got above 10*. It sure felt pretty damn fast I tell ya.

I have to ask how many miles I can't remember and don't feel like looking right now. What is your Density altitude? what heat range plugs you have in now? what is the octane rating there? have you changed the fuel filter? are you still running a stock paper air filter?

Car is 100% stock besides a 180 stat and NGK TR55s at .055. So yes, paper filter, factory airbox, etc, etc. 113,000 miles right now. I do realize that a couple tune-up items and a cleaning of the TB and sensors can help. I will be doing that this weekend. I don't want to change the intake until I figure out my KR issue too.

I have no idea about altitude. It'* pretty low though. IAT readings are fairly nice and cool (70* or less). I run 93 octane.

could it be that maybe the injectors are getting a little on the lazy side. maybe you could think of getting them cleaned and redone at FIE as jsut another piece in the puzzle eliminated.unless your cat is going and causing just enough irregular backpressure to trigger something. I am just throwing Ideas out there but those are 2 places I would personally check

FIE is an eventual thing I will do, but I need to find a spare set and send those out. I will get a new Hi-flow CAT when money permits.

I need to learn what my readings I just posted meant and I'll be able to figure out what'* going on.

IAC when warmed up @ idle: between 7890. and 8254. (stayed at 7890. most of the time)

LTFT at WOT: 6.2

O2 at WOT: highest of 885 (should be around 915-925 correct?)

Timing advance: max of 10.5-11
I also have to figure out my misfire problem, though the seems to run with no misfires.
