Tinting the Back window
Now Ive tinted alot of vehicles when a friend of mine ran a shop in holland. Stuff from a viper to a PoS malibu. One thing I never had to encounter is the radio antenna on the back window. Now I know tint is slightly metallic, or atleast this is what Lumar[tint manufac.] tells me. For those who have had their back window tinted, is there any indication of any lost reception, cause it takes alot to steam tint off a window with the strips cause you cannot use a blade to scrape the residule glue off. Info would be good cause Id like to do it this coming week.

I HAVE THE HEATED REAR AND THE REAR SIDE WINDOWS TINTED .
THE RADIO FREQUENCY IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT OVER HERE IN THE UK BUT HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY LOST OF SIGNAL STRENGH SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR.
THE TINTING WAS DONE IN FT WORTH TEXAS BEFORE I GOT IT SHIPPED HOME SO I WOULD SAY DO IT LOOKS GREAT[/b]

I had my Bonneville tinted using Johnson Films and there is no problem. I have the rear window FM antenna and an OnStar hookup. I would not expect the OnStar to be affected and there is no loss of signal. The XM antenna is on the roof so there is no problem with the XM signal.

My bonnie is tinted, but I don't know how much (really should get that figured out sometime before I get ticketed). I bought it with the tint all around and was just told it was legal, but I doubt that it is... I have no noticeable problems with reception. It gets radio stations that my RAM can't get sometimes...

I really should find out what mine is. I dislike dark tint... Mine is light enough so i really don't notice the tint from the inside, but dark enough that it looks great on the outside.
I have never liked any of the mirror tint. That and the fact that cops dislike it even more would keep me from ever attempting it.
On a white car, I would say go with as dark a normal tint as you like. If the car were silver, I'd say that mirror may be ok, but with white, I think a good black tint would look best.

Black as night man.. totally. As long as you don't go too dark, you'll be cool and it'll blend in with the car. Like me, I will probably get 50% all around [all windows, windshield, rear window], just because I have a white car, and any darker the cops 'll haul me over. Since, that'* what they do around here, is prey on teens in anything they can. Not to mention having the front windows tinted is illegal in Michigan.

50% is a light tint. You would probably want a lower number for the tint say 20%. The law in Michigan seems to allow a lot of leeway in the tint that can legally be applied. In most states Mirrored tint is illegal. No state allows for the front window to be tinted. Here is a link to the state laws on a single page.

In Maryland illegal tint is a $250.00 fine plus you have to remove the tint. Removing tint is more expensive than installing new tint.
