yeas it is and to say i'm a lil unhappy would be an understatement...i can't believe with only 63,000 this has happened, and they said it has worn the upper bearings on the strut tower or brace too.

Be careful not to listen to everything the dealer/mechanics say. After all their job is to make money. When I brought mine in to do the recall service they tried to get me to do about $870 worth of work which I know for a fact is not necessary. In fact I asked the mechanic personally and he was honest enough to say it'* really nothing. Basically the service manager showing me a little dark dry greasy spots near a few gaskets. I know my car does not leak a drop of oil even after 120,000 miles. Every car in the world has some dirty grease under the hood, otherwise mechanics hands would always remain clean. I do believe they push unnecessary service, but that'* my opinion, and sometimes they are correct.

New steering service bulletin
Here is the most recent sttering service bulletin
Advanced Service Info - Clunk Noise From Front of Vehicle During Turning Maneuver/Steering Wheel Rotation (Perform Temporary Fix, Permanent Fix Under Development) #04-02-35-004 - (03/10/2004)
Clunk Noise from Front of Vehicle During Turning Maneuver/Steering Wheel Rotation (Perform Temporary Fix, Permanent Fix Under Development)
2000-2004 Pontiac Bonneville
Condition
Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from the front of the vehicle during a turning maneuver. This condition may also be felt through the steering wheel when the vehicle is stationary and the wheel is rotated from steering stop to steering stop.
Cause
The clunk noise may be caused by a stick-slip condition in the intermediate shaft. An interaction with the steering system creates a vibration that travels up the steering column to the steering wheel.
Correction
Important
No Corrective Action should be taken at this time.
A new intermediate steering shaft is being developed to address the clunk noise. This bulletin will be updated when part information is available.
Bulletin 01-02-32-001C which advised to lubricate the intermediate steering shaft may be performed, however, this is only a temporary correction of the clunk noise.
