question on resetting "SERVICE ENGINE SOON"
ON 2000 SSEI CHANGE OIL SOON LIGHT CAME ON THE DIC.... i kept driving till I got home. The gauge cluster had SERVICE ENGINE SOON light come on also.
Are these related? I think not.
I changed the oil and reset the oil life system.
What do I do to reset the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light on the gauge cluster? I believe this is an emmissions message. Can I reset it or does it have to go to the dealer.
I have installed a 180 stat but thats months ago and no problem. Suggestions?

First step it to find out what code is set. If you have an auto parts store nearby, they may scan it for you. Then we can fix the problem and if the light doesn't go out on it'* own, you can have it cleared by the same scantool. The dealer will charge you unless it'* under warranty. That should be your last resort.

A few early morning cool trips can set the ses code if you have a 180* stat, I think its p1806? Autozone has a code reader that their customers can use, try there (I think its free?).

Gas Cap...
Got me first few fill up'*
Code reads EVAP it'* usually the gas cap not tight 'nuf
Service Engine is indeed usually emissions related 'tho
Takes a ton of start cycles to reset itself and I'm about
to get a cheap tool to just clear the codes....
