Possible failing MAF?

SO this is how yesterday went. Got home, started the bonnie up, let it sit until engine got warm, was busy cleaning out my truck when i heard the engine almost die. popped the hood on the bonnie, tapped on the MAF, engine almost died again. QUick trip up the street to Advanced Auto parts, New MAF, (138.99) Installed it in the parking lot, followed by 30 min test drive. No more stalling, surging or bucking. Im calling this one fixed.

I see the parts stores are kinda proud of that part! 90 dollar core charge!
Would like to see whats inside that thing, thay are rebuilding them.
During eng operation they really dont get hot. and they do have fresh air passing through to cool. I was thinking solder joints. The ice is sorta a "fire and ice" diagnostics.

yeah i noticed that when my vehicle is at a stop the temp will rise a little higher than normal. I am not sure if that would have something to do with it. I just replaced the thermostat and the air cooler elbows so I am not sure what it could be.
