Oil pressure needle supposed to be all the way up to 120?
Hi,
Just bought a 2002 SSEi and the oil pressure needle is always at 120 (the max) - is this supposed to be?
Thanks as always!

I just bought a 2001 SSEi and have the same problem
What we need is a OIl Preasure Sending Unit.
The dealer wants $70
You can get it at GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts for $36.00. (I just ordered one)
I found this information out on the common problem thread that has been on the forum for quite some time. Great info on common problems with our SSEi cars.
If your DEC which is the information center on our cars tells you "service stability control system" This is 99% a Steering wheel positioning sensor which cost around $53.00 on the web site i mentioned above and requires 2 hours labor to install. I ordered one of those also.
Just check out the thread on common problems as it is excellent.

Figures, the guy I bought the car from said it was supposed to be at 120... didn't think so, but, thought he should know....
The needle does move from 0 when you start the car, it does the whole needle go all the way to the right, along with all of the other needles on the dash, it then goes down, along with all of the others, but then it shoots right back up to 120 and stays there....
And yes, the information center does say service stability system also....
So, what parts do I need again?
Thanks as always!

Yeah sounds like the guy you bought it from had no clue why the gauge was at 120 and most likely thought it was a serious problem that would hinder his sale. JERK. But im gonna 2nd Dans suggestion. New Oil pressure sender.
