Newbie needs helping tracking down a part for 2000 bonne
My front driver side window broke about a month ago and I'm finally getting around to fixing it. I tried going to the GM dealership and talked to a mechanic but he told me to fix the problem I would need to buy the whole motor assembly for 200 bucks. The only thing that broke on my car was a small piece of plastic that connects the window clamp to the guide wire.
What I need help with is finding out the name and part number of that little piece of plastic. Also some photos would be nice, so I don't have to take the passenger side panel off just to have a look at it (broke 2 or 3 of the plastic pegs just taking off the driver side panel, $18 just to buy 3 new ones from the GM shop)

The mechanic told me to do the same thing, go to a junk yard. But I'm new to the area so finding them and driving to them is a pain in the ***. I was hoping I'd be able to find the part number and buy it online. But If what I've been told is true you have to buy the whole motor (regulator?) just to get that little peice. If anyones got an extra clip I'll send some PP your way to send it to me.

If all else fails at finding one at the junkyard then ebay

DORMAN Part # 741817 **#25750514}
Front Left; Power Window Regulator w/Motor $84.79 at rockauto.com.
I havn't taken a door panel off the Bonnie yet but I bet you can get the plastic pegs at AutoZone or any hardware store for $1.

Yes, I have replaced three of the four regulators on my 01, all with the same broken plastic piece that allowed the cable to slip out and I have bought whole regulators from the dealership for 300 bucks before finding out that someone devised a nifty fix with common hardware items (kind of a Why didn't I think of that moment.) It may be on another forum where I saw the fix.
I haven't found any Dorman pieces that resemble just the plastic piece which is like a square block that rides up and down the guide track. It gets brittle over time, then cracks and that lets the cable pop out.
Another word to the wise. Hang on to the old regulator assembly. Luckily I did, because I had an actual motor failure and was able to use the motor from the saved part to repair the newer one.
