I've had my 2000 for about a year now, I've replaced the rear window regulator, intermediate steering shaft, and tie-rod ends. My experience with Bonnevilles have been positive, as they have with other GM vehicles. My son has a 99 Grand Prix pushing 100,000 miles, and daughter has a 91 Grand Prix with 210,000 miles and still going strong. I just got rid of a 96 Buick that had 160,000 miles, and I sold an 89 Bonneville to a friend who sold it a couple of years ago with over 250,000 miles on it. No major problems with any of them. The Michigan potholes eat tie-rod ends for lunch...so any vehicle around here will have problems with. I'd have no problem recommending a Bonneville to my friends, as I've been happy with them and GM cars in general. I can't say the same for my experiences with Chrysler. In general, you take good care of the vehicle - do regular preventative maintenance (and hopefully whomever you buy it from will have done the same) it should be good to you, and you won't be bored driving it.

Im sold! Now I just have to find a good solid one. Plus... the right color.
I dont need the SSEi...... the 3.8L is fine for me, but I REALLLLLLLY want a sunroof! Plus the premium stereo.
Im hoping that I can get all of it for a good price in a SLE. Wish me luck!

Rouge... LOL!
Well Im in sales. I sell 2-way radios all over Chicago to PDs and FDs. And the fuel cost is just to high.... along with the insurance cost. Plus Im STILL single at 33.... so I have to actually spend money on my dates.

Going from a 4 cylinder to a powerful 6, is good enough for me..... for now.

Then you had better not follow Rogue'* advice - because, if you drive an SSEi, you won't "settle" for the SLE. Find a date who likes cars, and you won't have to pay for anything else. When I checked the difference in insurance costs between the different trim packages of the Bonneville, I found there wasn't that much difference...at least around here.

Oh, I forgot...I also replaced the right rear wheel hub, but it took me longer to change the plugs and wires than it did any of the other things listed.

The right real wheel hub?! What was wrong with it???
As far as insurance, it would cost $170 more for the SSEi and $75 more for the SLE every 6 months. put that on top of the extra $60 per month in my car payment and it starts to get pricy. Not to mention fuel costs. I drive about 20k a year.
Being from the Chicago area.... women are stuck up, snobby wenches. I have to move to a place where chicks are normal. lol

The wheeel hub was getting a bit noisy. It could very well have lasted quite some time yet, but I don't like things making noise that shouldn't. Most people riding in the car couldn't hear it. It only took about an hour or so to replace.

--IF-- you change your mind and go with the SSEi, add transmission problems to the list of things that can go wrong. Quite a few of us have had to repalce the %&#$! 4T65 transmission that comes in the SSEi.

Default transmission

I have the 2004 Bonneville SE. I hear about transmission problems, someone mentioned in a post above this one. What mileage range should I expect on the transmission? All the GM cars I've owned, never had to have a transmission REPLACED! Sounds scary, I should HOPE not to have the transmission go. I only have a little over 5000 miles now, and have had the car since March 04, so I don't put many miles on it. At 4000 miles, it needed a new steering shaft. Other than that, no other problems yet.
