I have a 2000 Se that after heavy braking (wife'* lead foot), a loud noise not unlike a moose lets loose from somewhere in the front end the next time she brakes. I have checked the rotors for oil or grease to no avail. The rotors and pads were replaced at 35K, it is at 67K now. Anybody experience anything like this?

Yep. Have those pads pulled and remove rust on all mating pad/caliper surfaces. Lightly grease with approved grease (I have always used wheel bearing grease). This should help eliminate that noise. You might also consider inspecting pads to make sure they have not picked up crud on their surfaces. I use laquer thinner, followed by light dry sanding with about 80 wt. sandpaper. Works for me.
