I cannot figure out how to remove the cover for the air cleaner on my 2000 Bonneville SE. Any tips would be great. I am trying to put in a K&N Filter and I need to install the gasket that came with it to the air box end closest to the throttle body.

2 metal clips. then pry apart. its in there pretty tight.
if your replacing the filter pry apart just enough to pull the old one out.

I've found it easier to remove the intake hose first. There'* a hose clamp on the box side. Loosen that. The part on the trottle body just pops off. Sqeeze the hose together, being careful not to scrape along the MAF screen on the trottle body, and pull off. Don't forget to disconnect the IAT plug first. Then, the box is a lot easier to take apart.

Does the cover actually remove from the air box?

Yes, it does. There teeth on the bottom of the cover that slips into grooves on the box.

how much of an increase in torque would I see Just installing a K&N replacement filter?

Amount of an increase like this depends upon each unique vehile. From an air filter..you might feel a little more pep on the buttdyno..

How hard is it to gut the air box also?
