Default How many quarts of fluid in the pan? 4T65E

I ran a search and found nothing. Yes, I looked at my owner'* manual, and it only lists total capacity. Please excuse this rather mundane question.

Mmmm Typical loss is 6 quarts. However when you drop pan and filter, add 4 quarts. Get it running then top it off.

Just changed the tranny fluid on my car two weeks ago. I had to readd 5.5 quarts after dropping the pan and filter.

Ineterestingly, I've done mine twice, and my son'* '99 GP once...each took about 7.5 quarts to refill. :?:

Your SSEi is the 4T65E HD. That probably likely holds more.

As for your son'* GP, that'* the same transmission as the 4T65E in the non-supercharged Bonnies. I have NFC why it took more.

would there be any harm of running the car for about 10 seconds once all the fluid has drained... shoould be able to pump out another 2 qts no problem...?

yes there would be harm, however it is hard to tell exactly how much.

The pump is self lubricated by the fluid. and even though you are in park, there is still going to be clutches slipping and spinning un lubriceated if there is no fluid, never mind the chance of getting a pice of dust or dirt into the tranny is greatly increased
