Unless the hub itself is bad the ABS/TRAC are likely the sensor being bad but will not solve your shaking.
Some are integral with the hub.

I'm curious more about the shaking:

What is the lowest speed that you feel the shaking?

What is the highest speed that you have felt the shaking?

How old are the tires?

Have you had the wheels balanced?

To answer those questions:

55 - 65 mph. Other than that, it'* just the usual moans and groans of a 20 year old suspension and drivetrain (LOL).

Right Rear is brand spanking new. The other 3... no idea. Although I have not measured the tread, they all appear to be able to pass inspection.

I have NOT had the wheels balanced. Left front has no wheel weights at all. Right rear like I said is brand new so the shop better have balanced it. Matter of fact, Since I finally have a friggen day off tomorrow, I may do just that... get them all balanced.

You asked, I answered.

EDIT: Why can't we edit our own posts after clicking the "Submit" button?

Yet, it still causes problems. I don't like yellow lights on my dash. The hub is getting replaced.

EDIT feature has been turned off for many years, for many reasons. Main reason is to keep the integrity of the forum intact. If there is trouble afoul, users can't go back and change comments.
In a technical thread, if a mistake is made, or an update needed, we just simply ask that the member make another post and clarifies the change/mistake.

Yeah, definitely balance them. The issue sounds like balance, or out of round. See if you can find a place with a road-force balancer.

Get us the date code off the sidewalls. it is four digits stamped near the rim on one sidewall of each tire, like in the green box here:

Got the tires balanced today. They did all 4 but told me that the left front was way off. Hmmm, that'* the tire that hit a pothole and started this whole mess. However, it'* been sleet/freezing rain all day so I haven't really had a chance to get on the interstate and see if that has solved the problem. I can't really exceed 35 mph in town.

Additionally, I changed out the left front wheel hub. The front end is quieter, for sure, and the ABS and TRAC lights are now off. I'm making progress, but I still get the Service Stability System error in the DIC. Research says I need a new steering position sensor. Mkay.... because I need a sensor to tell me that my steering wheel is at TDC...... technology is overkill sometimes.

Oh and last but not least, the outer tie rod end on the passenger side was toast. Removing it was fun. NOT. That tie rod was damn near seized up inside the steering knuckle. It took a pickle fork, a 10 lb sledge, and lots of cursing to break it loose. I'm used to just tapping the side of the steering knuckle with a ball peen hammer and they pop right out.

So that'* my update. Time for a much needed shower and 6 hours sleep if I'm lucky. Tomorrow is another day.

Quick Reply: Front end shakes.... *sigh*
