I just talked to Pontiac about willwrens letter to them. They lady (Tiffany) works from 3-11 pm and is not there. They said she would call you (willwren) between 5-7.

Rogue, did you change the cat or a shop. Here in OK, with the car only having 43000 miles, no one will touch it with less than 80000.
Some federal blah,blah
I asked Pontiac yesterday, what if it got ripped off by an Oklahoma Pothole?
Would I be driving around with open exhaust because Bonnie cats are on international backorder?
The reply was "we don't deal in if'*".
So, no answer today. Hurry up and wait..............

Well, I just got off he phone with WillM@intense-racing.com
He is in Tulsa,OK
He told me that he would do a new exhaust-cat,mufflers and all for $170.
I would hate to go against the warranty though.
Especially after raising hell for 2 months!
But I am VERY tempted to get my car back from the dealer and get er done!!!

I guess I'll have to think about it and "ask" the wife!
I WANT MY BONNIE BACK!!!!!!!!!

Yea, we bought the extended warranty.
Another 3 years/30,000 miles. She had 43,000 when we bought her.

I spent the last hour on the phone between Pontiac and PrimusCare(extended warranty)
and the Primus doesn't even cover the exhaust or supercharger!
Sooooo.........In talking to Pontiac, if I have the system redone by INTENSE, Pontiac wants the original cat turned in to them the WHEN they get the new exhaust in. (x amount of months)
Will @ INTENSE stated for $170 it would be a new exhaust installed with tips of my choice.
I believe I'll be picking up my Bonnie tomorrow and heading to Tulsa Monday on my day off to have this done!
He said they have a 420hp GTP at their shop! I want to SEE!!!

Peace

Ron

Stick with a high flow Catalytic Converter rather than none at all. It won't hurt your performance and it'* helpfull for the enviroment.

Glad to hear you're making progress.

Cheers,

Good Day Brothers and Sisters!
I have entered the fold and am now a TRUE believer!
For those of you that have followed this long story:

Monday, I drove the 2 hours to the garage where the magic happened.
I met Randy (exhaust GOD) and the Bonneville underwent surgery.
She pulled thru just fine and so did I. To begin with, Randy and Will (INTENSE Racing guy)
cut the exhaust off to just in front of the y-pipe. A new 3" downpipe (it looked like a HUGE stovepipe to me) was run to the new cat. New Flowmaster Turbo'* replaced the
stock GM mufflers and my wife wanted the stock parallelagram tips. No resonator.
So, 4 hours later, they fired her up. I didn't know what to think! She was LOUD!
I thought it was, my wife loved it! (She has a 77 F150, 460cid, glass packs)
I have driven it for 2 days now. She is loud at times, just awesome ALL the rest of the time! I came home and built a homemade cold air (just put a cone, KN, filter at the end of the billows) and left the PCM where it was. OH MY GOD!
I don't know where this Alien Technology came from or whatever manifested my Bonnie,
but the difference NOW is F ---ing UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I just LOVE the supercharger scream! I've spent 2 days boosting around town just freaking out! I just can't describe what "emotion" or "feelings" this car makes me feel!
A couple of seconds of boost and my hands were sweaty, heart pounding thru my chest, such a feeling of euphoria! I think Angie had to change clothes!
And I was barely pressing the pedal!
I moved my seat forward, went to a short stretch behind my wife'* work and hit full throttle! Let'* just say that it SCARED the **** out of me!!!! I have never been pressed that hard back in a car since High School 1982 when my friend had a '69 Cuda!
Now my complaint is lack of space,0-40,0-65 whatever the speed limit, just comes SOOOO quickly you can't even blink!
She is no longer the quiet, stealthy starship she once was.
She is now the Hunter.

So all you new owners out there, do it!
Make the crossover, become one with your Bonnie.
I am SO hooked!
I appreciate all your support and concern during this "crisis". I had somewhere to vent!
I surely hope no one alse goes thru this kind of BS with GM.
If you do, let me know. I'll hook you up with this "Shop of Wonders"!

Safe Journey,

Ragnar the Red

Glad you love it as much as I do.
I just confirms my belief that less restriction is better for our SC Bonne'* and it does not lower the torque, it raises it.
You are now ready for a 3.4" pulley. Do it!! It will improve the accel as much as you just gained and probably more.

Hello, i've been lurking the forums long enough, time to post! :P I recently purchased a 2000 SSEi and I too had my fuel pump and cat go out 2 weeks after I got it. They had it at the dealership (Hudiburg Pontiac, hello fellow okies) for over 2 weeks before they finally could replace it with an aftermarket one. My mom used to sell cars and knew one of the general managers there personally, and this is the story we got from him regarding the long wait.

Apparently GM has been having some troubles with the Cats on the newer Bonnies, so instead of sending out the same problematic ones, they were redesigning them from the ground up or something, and they were supposed to come out Oct 14th or so (this was back in late August, when my car was still at the dealer.) Luckily my guy called GM directly and basically begged to put an aftermarket cat on my car and have it not void the warranty, since it was stupid to wait another 2 weeks in the shop. My car was pretty much undriveable from what I heard, the cat would turn red hot after the engine running for a bit. But anyways, glad I have the car, it'* awesome for a big guy like me (6'6" 280 pds) and it has luxury and performance at the same time

Amen Brother!

This waiting is for the birds
Pontiac wants to put the "NEW" system on when they get it in..............
But they can have IT! I'm in love with the new exhaust I have now!
They are all like "Well, we can't reimburse you for that". HAH!
Best $200 I ever spent!

Go Sooners!!
