Dirty MAF screen and TB..best way to clean it?
Hey guys,
Had my air filter out to clean it the other day and noticed the MAF screen is really dirty.
I want to clean it, but how do I get it out? Can i leave it in and just spray some TB cleaner on it, or is this gonna ruin my MAF?
I would like to clean the throttle body as well being I am sure it has never been cleaned in 75k miles..
All my other cars have been simple to just pull the TB off and clean everything but it looks like on this car its a bit more difficult than just loosening a few bolts and pulling it off.. can it be cleaned without going through the hassle of pulling it off? If I have to pull it off, what all needs to be done?
I am driving 5 hours round trip this weekend and want to get this cleaned before I leave, but dont want to turn it into a long project if I don't have to..
Thanks guys

The screen comes off with a snap ring. So you will need a snap ring pliers. Remove the screws for the MAF, and clean that with MAF cleaner, don't touch or spray the wire. To remove the throttle body you will need to drain off a little coolant. Remove the vacuum lines, the cables, unplug the sensors, and remove the 3 nuts. That'* it. You will need a new gasket.

Thanks Dan,
After looking at it closer, I finally saw the damn ring in front of the screen, lol.. easy to get the screen off once you figure that out!
Pulled the MAF out, cleaned everything real good, and did a seafoam treatment as well! Not much smoke though..my 1999 Trans Am with only 40k miles on it smoked WAY WAY WAY more than this thing did..just a little white smoke for about 5 seconds after it sat for 15 minutes and that is it!
