180T-stats are primarily suggested for Series II normally aspirated (non SC'd) cars. The upper intake manifold is plastic and may evantually crack due to heat. The 180 opens up the cooling sysetem a bit earlier to protect the upper intake.
On an SC'd car, the upper intake manifold is replaced with a sweet a$$ Eaton M90 Supercharger. 180 T-stat is still recommended, as well as an additional tranny cooler.
You may notice a SLIGHT drop in mpg, but the peace of mind with that 180 is well worth the minor added expense

Sorry, Im jumping in on this one a little late, some opinions I thought I'd share:
1. I had a car with a moonroof once, I liked having it so much Im having one installed in my 02 SE. (~$1,000)
Hold your comments on #1, there is another post open on my sunroof endeavors if you want to chime in: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ghlight=#85586
2. You may run into a snag replacing the factory radio on any of the 2000+ year models, becuase of the "gm-link" system integration. There appear to be two differnt types, one with a ribbon cable (where it will be expensive to install an aftermarket HU and usually involves DUAL installations of both the factory radio (in the trunk) and your aftermarket radio) the second is the non-ribbon cable, where at the least you will lose your door chime, low gas chime, headlights on, etc..Not a big deal, I did it.
3. I agree with previous comments, you can always add a radio, rims, heated seats, etc. One of the hardest things to add would be a sunroof, and after you add it it stays with the car (unlike the rims which you can take if you get rid of it).
4. If they wont budge on the price, milk for freebies. Extended warranty, floor mats (if it does'nt have it), detailing, and at the very least a free tank of gas and pontiac polo shirt.
Good luck, and let us know which one you get!
Mike

/quote] i didnt realize changing the headunit would be a big project because of whats tied into the system, but from what im reading it is, so maybe and hopefully ill like the system stock and not change anything, i really dont want to lose chimes ect ect, time will tell. As far as the 180 stat where can i get one, its just changing the old one with the new right? no need to reprogram the fans? on my camaro i have a 160 stat but i also reprogrammed the computer to make the fans come on earlier, ive always liked a cooler running engine for sure

No..the M90 is the stock SC on Series II engines.
If you make any upgrades to the SC its usually a smaller pulley. The difference between the Series II NA and SC is seen in the bone stock HP counts
NA: 205
SC: 240

the stock stat in the 00s is 194 (or something like that). No need to re-prog fans, but getting a manual switch to control them certainly would'nt hurt in stop and go traffic.
don't dispair on the radio thing. It can be swapped. If you are worried about the chime feature you can get a device called GMChime (I think at gmchime.com) that replaces the factory radio chime function...
Either way you're getting a nice car!
