Broken Axle boot/seal ???
#3
Yes, it just happen to me about a month ago. Most would say that depending on how long the boot has been torn the best bet would be to go ahead and replace the halfshaft. However, if it is pretty recent and you don't hear any clicking-type sounds then I guess you could get away with just getting a new boot. Did you have a more specific concern?

Unless you get a split boot which can be a bit of a pain to work with, be prepared to take the CV joint apart to replace the boot. Most find for a good long term, reasonable solution, just replace the shaft.
