Bolts - Lower Strut Mount
What is the diameter of those bolts? When I pulled the right front strut out the other day, I forgot to measure them.
The reason why I ask is because I want to get me some kind of an alignment punch for lining up the holes of the strut with the holes of the spindle.
All I had at the time was a skinny 3/8" pin punch, but it helped. I'm thinking a bull pin might do the trick, but it would be easier to pick one out if I knew the size of the holes in the spindle.
Klein Bull Pin
EDIT: Here'* an image showing the bolts and the spindle (AKA steering knuckle):

I doubt anyone ever had a need to measure them. I'd suggest turning the wheels all the way to one side and seeing if you can look in and get a measurement that way.

Right about 7/8" or so. Get a 1" bull pin. You can slide it in and with the relativly small thickness of the strut flange the knuckle should be sufficiently alinged to get the bolt in. Or just use a sledge and screwdriver to get it right...

Alright thanks fellas.
Yeah they are some real healthy robust bolts. I was thinking 3/4" to 7/8". The next time I take the strut out, I'll let everyone know the exact size and how well the bull pin works. I have a feeling that it will work nicely.

How about alignment after you remove those bolts?

The diameter of the bolts holding the strut to the knuckle on my '95 is (nominally) 5/8" The head of the bolt may be 7/8", but the bolt diameter measures .618"
