The accepted rate of oil consumption for engines used in the vehicles referenced is 0.946 liter (1 qt) in 3200 km (2000 mi).
This rate only applies to personal use vehicles, under warranty, that are driven in a non-aggressive manner and maintained in accordance with the appropriate maintenance schedule, with less than 58,000 km (36,000 mi), or 80,450 km (50,000 mi) for Cadillac, driven at legal speeds in an unloaded (for trucks) condition.
This rate does not apply to vehicles that are driven in an aggressive manner, at high RPM, high speeds, or in a loaded condition (for trucks). Oil consumption for vehicles driven under these conditions will be more.

This is per tsb 01-06-01-011D from GM on oil consuption.

there isnt any trouble idling at startup and it starts right up, sometimes I think it cranks a little longer than it should but that could just be me being perinoid cause it isnt that long. The main thing is it makes my garage smell like coolant and you can see the steam in the headlights when its turned off for a few seconds. Im thinkin of tackling the intake gasket but nows the next issue besides never doing any work on it, I was looking for one of those repair manuals but the one I found for the 3800 motor doesnt include suppercharged models, is this an issue or is the supercharger just a simple addon to the top? if not, is there a book out there?

To get the */C off is easy. remove the engine cover. Then you just to unplug a few connectors on the throttle body and fuel injectors. Then disconect and remove the fuel rail. Its like 4 10 mm nuts on the ends. Drain the coolant. I didn't even remove the throttle body off the */C which they say to do. I just stood on the pass side and pulled the */C out over the ignition coils. I think there are like 6 bolts that hold it on. Once its off it is really no different than a K engine. If you want detailed instruction, try calling your library and see if they have Alldata. Mine does and its free to use but they charge me to print stuff out. It comes in handy on Sunday when I get into a pinch
