Any Problems?
Hi there.
I have a 2002 SE that I've had for a couple of months and 3,200 miles so it is pretty much still new out the box. So far it runs perfectly, but I was wondering if there are any common problems with the 2000 + models that I should be looking out for. Also how many members of this board have 2000 + models.

They said it was an open circuit somewhere. I don't know where but it seems to be working fine now. I am still gonna keep an eye out for it just in case it happens again.

look out for this
I posted this in the other section, but keep an eye out for a leak in the trunk. With the lack of rain, we just realized that when we went into the spare tire well after some heavy rain, there was a good amount of water. The dealer had to reseal a portion of the trunk by the lock...seems to be common w/ 2002. Also, we were able to have the dealer cut the rotors @ 20,000mi due to warping. It was done no charge as a warranty item. I don't think the original brake pads were good. alldata.com shows a service bulletin about brakes. Good luck w/ the car...I love mine

We have the same no rain problem here. I did check the spare tire well yesterday and it seemed fine. I will check again whenever it does rain again.

About that trunk leak, If the dealer can't or won't fix it open your trunk look at the trunk lid below the lens where it meets the rear of the car there should be two rubber gromets pull one out and the water will not spill on you or your stuff after a hard rain.

The main problems are as follows:
1) Rear Main Seals on both 3800 Series II Engines.
2) RH Valve Cover Gaskets leaks (the one closest to the firewall).
3) Upper Intake leaks coolant at Throttle Body Assembly (some internally & some externally).
That'* about it besides the usual "Driveability" problems like minor trim imperfections, squeeks & rattles.

Trunk leak
2002 Ei, Water was dripping out of the lid when opened after a rain. In the 6 months I own the car it has been at the dealer for approx. 30 days on 4 different occations. They tell me it is fixed, we will see next rain.
