No need to replace the DEX unless you want to. I only changed mine because the green is easier to see. If you do replace the DEX then you need to drain it *ALL*, then flush the system, and drain it again, then flush it again, and again. You can not have any DEX in the system. If you mix DEX and another coolant it will sludge up and make a big mess.

dex is not any more harmfull to the gaskets and seals than anything else the dex thing is a myth. i believe danthurs has a post on here about it and even with green the lim was failing so it is all a myth green actually helps see if you have a leak on the ground cause ya can't miss it either way ya want to go is fine but if switching to green better flush the system completely not good to mix then a simple water flush will do

Problem with our cars and draining is the lower hose or peacock is not the lowest open point for our coolant. You would have to pull your knock sensors which I don't recommend doing so I would just drain as much as you can fill with water and repeat until your draining water is colorless

and once you have just clear water depending where you are you can through a gallon of straight and fill the rest with 50/50 which will bring you to about 50/50 because of the water already in the block

If you have a large enough bucket below the car, get above the car, and pull the hose. I say to get above the car because my roommate, while working on his van, didn't. He ended up getting at least a couple of mouthfuls of oil-fouled coolant in his face.
For simplicity'* sake, I always use the petcock. Drop a bucket, open the valve, and go browse Bonneville Forum until the radiator empties.
