2001 Bonneville tranny problems???

So to do the kit that you describe, you only have to drop the bottom pan and put spacers the accumulators?
My thoughts about the solenoid are if you have a P1811 and installing a new solenoid corrects the P1811, I still feel that the solenoid has a damaged seat. So if you are dropping the side cover, change the solenoid. But if you do not have to drop the side cover to install your kit, I agree with your logic.

To do a shift kit you only drop the bottom pan. Here'* a write up. https://www.gmforum.com/t278802/ My thought is it'* more cleaning up the pistons in the shift modulator then it is the spacers.

That'* great for a shift quality issue, but most of the time that I get a P1811, the car will shudder violently on a hard acceleration off the line. If you put a pressure gauge on the line pressure port, you will see a massive fluctuation when the car is shuddering. So I don't see that limiting the accumulator travel will solve that problem.

I went back and looked, he didn't actually say he has a P1811 code. He said it'* likely a pressure solenoid. It is possible that is the problem, but I would hate to have him try to remove the side pan, or worse yet, have a shop do it and that'* not the problem. A shift kit is a cheep easy fix. If that does not correct the problem, then he may need to move on to the pressure switch. Also, as I said earlier, just cleaning the shift modulator has shown to do wonders. I've pulled several and found a very jerky movement. I clean them up and they move much more smoothly. We can keep the pressure switch on the table but think it'* a good idea to rule out the easy stuff first.
