Default Wide Open Throttle question

With the car is running in park and I go up to 3000 rpm and let off the gas I will hear a small knock ( like metal on metal) It only happens after I let off the gas. Please bonneville gods let me know what this may be.

Also after I do my oil changes and I start the car back up the engine will knock like twice and I will never hear that sound again untill I do my next oil change. I'm just tying to be pro active in any future problemsl. thanx a million.

I hate to hear that man but thanx for the info. Is a rebuild a do it yourself job?
I'm going to search for rebuilds on the l27. Is there anything I can do to prolong a engine rebuild?

I would say try to run a thicker oil, like 15W-40 because it'* summer time and warm out (don't use thicker oil in winter). The thicker oil provides more protection in worn out bearings and might buy you a little more time.

When i bought my 93 bonneville ssei, i had to smog it and as i was accelerating to 2500 rpm, i heard knoking and hitting. it sounded like a transmission problem. Two weeks later, my cars tranny breaks down. Dont know why but i blame that noise.

Hang in..3K in park...

Someone remind me..Isn't there a rev limiter somewhere around 3K- 4K?

rev limiter should be a 4k rpm, it was on my Series 2 and is also on my Shortstar, also neither one ever made/makes a sound of any kind when the limiter kicks in, the car just shudders and refuses to go any higher, so I dont know why the rev limiter would be any lower on the L27.
