Can you scan for individual cylinder output while the car is running crappy? That might point you in the right direction. You know your injector drivers are good since you already tried another PCM, so you can rule that out. You need a timing light or a heat gun (or whatever the right tool is) to point at each of your cylinders and check for uniform performance in all six. That will let you know if one of them is running weak, possibly indicating a bad injector. Is that fuel pressure a little too low, or is it right on the threshold? Isn't optimum 41-47psi?

My 91 has better than 40psi with the ignition on, I forget what the ratings for it are...

Fuel pressure regulators cost a bit more than I want them too.. I actually replaced the one on my L36 and that gave me back a few Psi...
I'm wondering if you have an unhappy injector, Fuel pressure regulator, or the pump its self is leaking down...
Does the fuel pressure stay up while idling? Blip the throttle a couple of time does the pressure still stay up?

Anyone local got a 96? then you could use the OBD II to get more information if you dropped your injectors into theirs...although series II probably used different injectors with my luck.
The fuel pressure...was that WOT or only idle? if that was WOT I'd be inclined to think it'* close enough. Do you ever run injector cleaner through?

FPR.......FPR Is going to be the only real reason why you're pressure is leaking down. Best way to test the injectors is to get a scan tool (I can do this with mine) and check the injector pulse....Mine go about a pulse every 4.x Milliseconds....Or something like that.....To see if they're all working, grab a long screw driver and put the blade on the injector and the handle to your ear and listen for the clicking noise made by the injector.

another thought on this...
today i noticed, while leaving work, after my car had been sitting for 6 hours, that it felt pretty peppy, about 45 secs into the drive, i stopped, and let er loose....
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR RRRR!!!!!!!
30 ft burnout...
(sorry cold engine, had to do it)
now this is all making sense...
after my tuneup day, when my car had been sitting all day, we took her in the parking lot, and my dad testing it quick.....30 ft burnouts.... then we drove out to the country to test the shift.....by then, 2 min later, the tranny was total lag again....
so back to today....after my 23 min drive home, i tried another burnout, not even a chirp...
this tells me that after the torque convertor warms up, it doesnt work near as well...
i called my dad with the findings... i told him i am almost 90% sure that its the torque convertor only...
however, he is sceptical to go though all the work to change it, and then have it not work... he think we should wait for the used tranny from nate still...
soooo...what would you do?
