Not to rain on this parade..
That'* very untypical
Mobil 1 stays more consistent through the time it'* in the car and breaks down less.. but unless you were using a 0w-30w or 5w-30w .. and now the 10w-30w mobil 1.. you shouldn't see a change in pressure.

Ok to clear this one up the car had 5w30 Walmart SuperTech in it with same ST filter. When the oil sender went I lost about 2 quarts. I put in 2 quarts of 10w30 to get it to the shop that did the sender. I also took a 3rd quart of 10w30 with incase I couldn't make it all the way there. The guy at the shop said he used the third quart after he changet the sender, but when I was under the car to do the oil change I noticed a Fram filter. So I am not sure which weight oil was in there after the sender replacement, but I do know that it was at least 3 quarts of 10w30. I am pretty positive that I read Haro or someone else had a jump in pressure from the Mobil 1. Unless its the K&N filter but I doubt it. I don't know what it would be that bumped it up, but its definitely up compared to before.
As a side note I have tried Lucas and found it to take care of lifter ticks, but when I put it in my wifes Lumina to quiet down the non piston skirt slap it got louder. So the next change will be to Mobil 1 and a K&N filter.

tnx, Jason
And then on Page 6A8-50 under engine specifications, Oil presure is again shown (at operating temp) as 414 kPa (60 psi) @ 1850 rpm.
My Haynes manual agrees with that.
So, I've picked up a replacement pressure sender, and intend to put that in Saturday. Got it at Advance for about $25.
Other than that a planning an early oil change with an AC-Delco filter, other thoughts on high oil pressure?
thanks all.....

Does the old rule of thumb, 10 psi per 1000 RPM, apply to our engines?
Mine pegs 80 most of the time lately, its gotta be the sensor, cause it cant be that high with almost 200k on an untouched short block

My car has never had less than 40psi. When its cold and idling, the PSI is generally 60 or above. Hot and idling is usually 45psi. Also, my pressure fluctuates very little with rpms. All this stuff leads me to distrust these electronic sensors. If you are worried, go have a shop put a mechanical sensor on it.

95 with the same issue. Can someone tell me where the oil sending unit is located on the car and the price for replacing it ? The old girl has 150 K on it but still runs and drives great so I really hope it'* not the bearings. Thanks Garbo
