Get a pic of that bolt you are talking about. If you need anything on the fronts besides a 3/8" hex or 13mm something ain't right.
Hammer..you'd think so..but it is 3/8. Sorta like the LIM bolts..GM calls them 10mm and you'll round them with a six point 10mm. 3/8 fit perfectly.
The slack in that e-brake cable says it'* unhooked or broken somewhere.

I should have been more clear. I was just taking the wheel off here lol, just to check the state of affairs before I commit my mode of transportation to being on stands. Whatever kind of nut it is, my 3/4" jack/nut wrench isn't fitting on it. My socket is AWOL.
Didn't get the wheel off, but I can see the rotors are caked with rust on the inboard side. They were doing the usual GM earthquake until one day it just turned into a scraping.
Yeah that makes sense that it'* a busted e-brake. I pulled it at 5mph in a parking lot just to see if it would work and I heard a not-so-good sound.

Oh oh, that looks like a locking lug nut. You need a key driver that fits that. If you don't have it your going to have a problem. My dad lost his key driver once. We ended up welding a bolt on to the nut just to get it off.

I'm hopping your hitting your head because you brain farted about the locking lug, and not because you have no idea where the socket is. Think of the brite side. You didn't find out on the side of the road with a flat like my dad and I did. The socket don't do much good when it'* at home in the tool box.

I've never heard of a locking lug until today. Oh well, maybe I'll call the shop whose sticker is on my windshield.
once again, keys are above the visor. have at it.

Before you call..
Check the glove box. If there'* nothing there, look in the jack storage box in the trunk. There'* a couple holders in there. Also check in the spare tire area.
