I did 3" because our engines can rev to 7k stock and we make our power at about 5200rpm for the horsepower and 4000 rpm for our torque.

4.6 comes from almost all caddies, and I have asked a few people for measurements but no go. All the wreckers near by also don’t have any in stock. Not even any 4.0'*. I guess I am going to have to go to the dealer and measure from there. I kinda knew the 60-e tranny was too small I used to visit the thrasher site a lot when it was up and running. I also was interested in the locked front end. I downloaded the video they had of the grand prix blowing the front end. Nice first run though. Nothing like smoking both front tires. I was thinking of transplanting the parts from the 65-e into my 60-e but first I have to see if I can get a 4.6 to fit. Obviously if I can get a 4.6 to work then bada-boom I’m gonna get a second on my house and rip all the stags in my neighborhood a new hole. lol

Go to this link and look at the engine range. Yes the real issue is weather the 4.6l engine and transaxle will fit in the current engine bay. I may have to mess around a bit. If it requires too much messing around Im gonna sell the Bonneville and get a an Aurora. They come with the 4.0l and it is the same engine as the 4.6 with smaller displacement. Its not really what can be done its just the cost that is an issue. More than 10.000 for the conversion is more than I want to spend. The engine I want is gonna cost about 15-20.000 anyway so if it costs more than 10.000 to convert the front end its not worth while. If the engine fits it will cost in the range of 3-5.000 to convert the front end. I know it has been done to fiero’* so I figure it can be done within the 3-5.000 dollar budget. At first Im just gonna drop in a stock unit but once I get the rest of the money together ill also have to set up the tranny. I have found a few places that do this tranny. Still in the end it (as you said) comes down to cash.

I looked into the Caddy 4.6L engine mod awhile ago. It will fit in bonnevilles, however you have to get the whole front end off the caddy. I remember a guy doing it and he had to include the front axle off the caddy. Its a cool mod and all. But that engine is too heavy and can't handle much boost. You can get a lot more performance out of a modified l36 or l67. Currently, I haven't heard of a tranny that can handle much more than 450 hp at the crank. So for now, my sights are set at 450.

this is the info i have.
There are two companies that sell Aurora V8
mods
http://www.chrfab.com - header flanges, cams, ported heads, etc
http://www.converter.cc - Yank converters: converters for the 4T80
trans, Crane Compucams (talk to Mike Sienna)
I know that they (www.chrfab.com)can get 800hp out of the 4.6l.
I dont think the tranny can be made to handle the power without major mods. I also dont want a car that is track only,so im looking at 4-500hp without nos.
