Forget that 02 socket - they're nearly worthless. They spread and slip under high torque.
If you are replacing it then you don't care about the wires so cut them off right at the top of the O2 and use a regular deepwell. A small pipewrench works wonders on the stubborn ones.

i have never had one slip, even under EXTREME stress...

you could try one of these also


but yes, you could just cut off the wire and use a regular deep well

I have yet to have a problem with the O2 socket either. However, you may have enough room to get it there with a good sized box end, end, or crescent wrench if you don't have a sensor socket handy.

OK...cutting the wires...I assume the new one has the wire then.
The connector must be out of sight in the picture

Yes cut the wires, then disconnect the plug at the other end of the wires you cut. The new O2 will look like this -

$50-60... it tells your PCM how your engine is running.. either rich or lean.. a properly working o2 will give you the best MPG

DO NOT get Bosch.. AC Delco only
