Urgent!!! My 94 bonneville SE won't start.
First of all let me start out saying I don't know anything about cars. Two night ago I went into a store, and when I went to leave my car wouldn't start. A guy parked next to me was nice enough to jump my car, but it took forever for it finally want to jump. So I got home and my fiance' and I decided to shut the car off and try to start it again, nothing. Yesterday we went and bought a new battery, installed it ourselves, and nothing. So we decided to replace the alternator. Replaced that and nothing. I still get lights and radio. I also cleaned the battery connectors. I don't know what to to. Do you think it could be the sarter? I need to know ASAP.

Welcome to the club. Could you check if your getting a security light on the dash. My thought is there might be something with the Vats going on, disabling the starter. Try cleaning the key and ignition switch. Usually a bad starter will come back to life temporarily if you rap on it with a hammer handle while someone turns the key. Do you get anything when you turn the key? clicking etc?

Well first off I fogot to mention that for probably around a month my antenna motor has been running non-stop, when my car finally died I cut the cord. It doesn't make any noise just the click of the key, all the lights are on and the radio works there seems to be a small clicking like noise coming from the right side of the engine when I'am looking into the hood from the front. I was told to rap on the starter with a hammer but I can't really get at it without lifting the car. If it'* not the starter what else could it be?
Also Thanks for letting me into the club. I sure can use the help and knowledge of all you posters.

The security light is quite obvious. It will be on your dash to the right of your speedometer. See the little microchip on your key? It is a resistor, and if it becomes dirty, your car won't start.
When it clicks, is it just one click or does it click multiple times until you let off the key?

On your ignition key, there is a metal pellet sourrounded by black plastic. You can clean the pellet with alcohol and insert the key several times in the ignition cylinder to clean the contacts.
On your dashboard, there should be a light that illuminates in orange with the word "SECURITY" on it when you attempt to start the car. We need to know if when you try to start the car, does this light illuminate? Stay on steady? Blink?

The security light is on steady for a few seconds, then it shuts off. The clicking happens when I am trying to start it, and one or two more times when I stop trying, but it is really faint. The car cannot turn over or anything.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming (a humming noise for a couple of seconds) when turing the key to the run position (without starting the car)?
